"I really love what you are doing…..keep up the good work!
I think it is high time that we act like the women that we are. What a great example that you are leading."

Nila . . . bellydancer
Nila has been belly dancing continuously since 1997, after a childhood of ballet, jazz & tap.
As a professional dancer, she continues to take 'Master' workshops, not only within belly dance, but also in Flamenco and East Indian dance. She also reads voraciously and has amassed a treasured library of MED books, DVD's and other learning materials.
Nila has dedicated her life to belly dance, and so keeps up to date with the latest trends and learns as much as she can about MED history; women's issues as related to dance, health and happiness.

Nila is a licensed esthetician, a certified body worker and a strict believer in proper teaching techniques.

Nila's training has led her to some of bellydancing's most respected and renowned teacher's.

Some of Nila's proudest moments in bellydancing so far:

  • Having pictures of me and 2 troupe members selected for the North Van Rec. Commission Leisure Guide 2004.
  • One of the world's foremost dancers, Suhaila Salimpour, pleasantly surprised me when she took me aside to mention how fluidly I moved during her workshop at Tribal Quest NW 2004.
  • Sponsoring Ansuya for a great workshop hot on the heels of the Bellydance Superstars Vancouver performance (May 2004).
  • Adding 14 new classes after only one year of teaching in North Vancouver.
  • Sponsoring the incomparable Alexandra King twice in the past 3 years for 2 great workshops & shows! And, becoming great friends in the process, of course.
  • An invitation to be a workshop instructor at the Al-Thaeib Haffla (November 27 2004)
  • Becoming Editor of Sahda, M.E.D.A's newsletter for bellydancers in (western) Canada.
  • Securing a prime slot at Victoria's ICA Folkfest 2001 & 2002.
  • Bellydance Fitness within Traditional Movement Instructional Video sees Nila enjoying a guest spot.
